We did a major construction project with Dan; literally taking down an existing house and putting up a new one. We lived on-site, and knew just enough to be annoying. Throughout the entire project, we were pleased with our choice of construction companies. Dan and his employees are respectful and knowledgeable. The billing was straightforward and timely. Our home is beautiful and we miss having them around every day. When people ask if we would ever do this again we always say, “Of course, as long as Dan is available.”

I had the good fortune of working with Dan Clause on the design and construction of a new 2,000 SF high end coffee bar and restaurant in downtown Santa Barbara. We brought Dan and his construction team to the job early on the process, as cost control and schedule were significant concerns for the client. Working together we developed a fresh contemporary interior design that was innovative and very cost effective. Since many of the interior elements we created were original and unique, we relied on Dan to provide constructability input which was invaluable to our project design team. Dan was attentive to detail, respectful of our input, focused on the bottom line, and most importantly brought his gentle spirit and “can do attitude” to any design challenge we would throw at him.

We had much fun working together as a team to deliver a challenging project ON TIME and ON BUDGET! As the project architect, I appreciated Dan’s attention to design concerns which most General Contractor’s overlook and specifically his care for proper execution of the details. The final product was well received by the client and the community, and even Wolfgang Puck stated upon a recent visit “this place is delightful, I think I’ll linger for a while.”

Having previously built three homes we, without reservation, believe you to be the best builder we have known. We were especially appreciative of how you handled the aftermath of the fire that destroyed the original structure, from the clean up phase to expeditiously working with our architect on the new design (and related budget) to working with the City of Santa Barbara through the permitting process; we couldn’t have done it without you!

Very early during the construction Marianne and I understood why so many people recommended that we engage you as our contractor. We could not have been more pleased with the construction process and more importantly the end result.

You have done an exceptional job! I have practiced architecture now for approximately 50 years (35 as Chief Architect for Kraft Foods, Inc., with a building volume of 50 million dollars a year world wide.) During this period, I have done business with many contractors worldwide. Mr. Clause, you are easily as good as, or better than, any of these.

You and your team kept this job moving, without delays, thereby insuring that it was timely completed. In addition, work by your subs and your own forces was excellent. Your cooperation with the owners and subs was all that could be expected.
